U.S 90 open to traffic, State Road 99 to Nine Mile Road opened Monday

From staff reports

The Florida Department of Transportation announced Monday morning that State Road 99 from Mobile Highway to Nine Mile Road is open to traffic.

U.S. 90 from the Escambia County Line to Bass Hole Cove Bride is also now open to traffic. The road had been closed due to downed trees and power lines as well as flooding/erosion.

Traffic restrictions on Garcon Point Bridge were lifted to all traffic at noon on Sunday. The toll suspension on the bridge remains until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The Garcon Point Bridge closed at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday due to sustained winds of 40 mph caused by Hurricane Sally. At about 4 p.m. Wednesday, a runaway barge wedged itself against the bridge and officials announced the bridge would remain closed until an inspection could be conducted.

The bridge reopened to two-axle vehicles only on Thursday following an initial inspection after the barge incident and remained open to serve as a temporary detour while the Pensacola Bay Bridge is closed.

Following an in-depth inspection and tests on the bridge, FDOT engineers have verified that the bridge is structurally sound, and all traffic is permitted to traverse the bridge.

Still closed

State Road 89 is closed at the Alabama state line due to roadway damage in Alabama.

In Escambia County, the Pensacola Bay Bridge is still closed,
