UPDATE: Names released for 4 confirmed fatalities in US 24 crash; statement released

UPDATED October 2nd at 11:30 a.m.

Timber Point Healthcare Center in Camp Point, Illinois released a statement following Tuesday's crash:

It is with heavy heart that we confirm the tragic accident yesterday that took the lives of two of our employees and two community members of Timber Point. The accident is under State and local investigation and the facility is cooperating with the authorities.
Working with Blessing Hospital the facility is providing grief counselling to staff and residents. We are grateful for the outpouring of community, prayers and support to our residents, our employees, and their families," stated Andi Lewis, Administrator for Timber Point.
After the families' services, Timber Point Healthcare Center will work with the families who were directly impacted by this tragedy to host a memorial service at Timber Point.



ADAMS COUNTY, IL (KHQA) UPDATED - 6:25 a.m.

The Illinois State Police has released the names of the four people killed in a two-vehicle crash in Adams County on Tuesday.

All four fatalities were in the activity bus owned by Timber Point Healthcare out of Camp Point.

The driver was 57-year-old Gay Ivy, of Perry, IL.

Three passengers also died in the crash: 86-year-old Shirley A Gooding, of Camp Point, 63-year-old Dennis R. Kadow, of Camp Point, and 71-year-old Sally E. Stoermer of Camp Point.

Two of those killed were nursing home residents and two were employees of the home.

The State Police says the bus was heading east on Highway 24 when it crossed the center line and hit a grain truck head on.

The 15-passenger bus caught fire and crews were unable to rescue anyone inside as flames engulfed it.

The driver of the grain truck was 20-year-old Parker A. Fuller of Ursa, IL.

Fuller suffered minor injuries.

He was ticketed for a violation of driver’s license classification

The Adams County Sheriff's Department confirms that four people have died following Tuesday's crash.

A vehicle is on fire following a traffic crash Tuesday afternoon.

The crash took place about 1 mile east of Highway 24 at the Highway 96 North junction.

KHQA's Lynsey Whitaker is on the scene.

Highway 24 East is currently closed to through traffic.

Illinois State Police District 20 says Adams County US 24 between North Junction (IL 96) and North 45th Street will be closed for several hours due to a serious personal injury crash, which will require a thorough investigation and cleanup.

Avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Adams County Coroner John Myers tells KHQA there is at least one fatality on the scene.

Adams County Sheriff Brian Vonderhaar is on the scene and says his department is strictly running traffic control. Vonderhaar can confirm the accident involved two vehicles, one being a grain truck.

Illinois State Police Lt. Brian Anderson is leading the accident investigation.
