Happy Valley just got a little happier.

According to saturdaytradition.com, Penn State has issued a news release announcing that Matt Millen, who received a heart transplant on Christmas Eve, on Saturday will broadcast the school’s spring football game.

Millen played defensive line and linebacker from 1976-79 at Penn State and remains a Nittany Lion in good standing. He played 12 years in the NFL, winning Super Bowls with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and Washington. Following his retirement from the NFL, he served as a TV analyst and as president of the Detroit Lions for 10 forgettable years.

This past spring Millen announced he was suffering from amyloidosis and in need of a transplant. He worked a few assignments for the Big Ten Network before stepping away from his broadcasting duties in October to focus on his health. He spent 84 days in the hospital awaiting a suitable donor heart. The organ arrived on Christmas Eve.

Penn State’s Blue-White game kicks off at noon PT. The game will be broadcast at 8 p.m.
