Volunteers beautify Eureka in 90 Minutes

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) Over a dozen of volunteers showed up to Vigor Street Saturday afternoon ready to clean in green.

E.C.O Eureka, PacOut Green Team and community members flooded Broadway Street between Bayshore Mall and Wabash Avenue all in effort to beautify the city.

PacOut Green Team partnered up with local trash heroes from STIL Humboldt, Vampire Penguin Eureka, and Second Sight Tattoo, all a part of the “Eureka 90 Minute Trash Bash” a special bi-monthly cleanup that’s completed in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

It’s one of our special 90 minute cleanup’s and we try to hit this area of town as it’s unfortunately an area that has high volume of a litter disbursed throughout it,” said Kathleen Lynch, Vice President of PacOut Green Team. “We keep a list of inventory, an estimate of how much garbage we get in different locations. This one we wanted to focus on that area of Eureka within the city limits, it’s been identified by multiple people as an area that needs some extra T.L.C.”

Volunteers also receive free coffee from Gold Rush and a free meal at Applebee’s after the cleanup was completed.
