As ABC News reporter Elizabeth Vargas continues battling alcohol addiction, she is now faced with divorce.

Vargas and her husband of 12 years, singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, are heading for divorce, reports People.

“Marc and Elizabeth are in divorce proceedings,” a source told the mag.

The news of their marriage ending comes days after the 51-year-old broadcast journalist announced she has returned to rehab in the continuous fight to win her decade-long battle with addiction.

“While on vacation this weekend, I decided to return to a recovery center,” she said in a statement to the Daily News on Sunday. “As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process.”

The parents of sons Zachary, 11, and Samuel, 8, were married in 2002. Vargas has been candid about her struggles and the toll it has had on her family.

“The kids are with him in New York while she seeks treatment,” the source added.

Still, Cohn supports his longtime partner through her journey to recovery.

“On behalf of Elizabeth’s family, we are in total support of her recovery and want her to be well,” the 55-year-old musician, who is currently on hiatus from touring, said in a statement to People.

The impact that battling addiction and now facing divorce has had on Vargas is undeniable.

“I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down,” she said in the statement to The News. “For that I am ashamed and sorry.”

The “20/20” anchor spent several weeks in rehab in November. At the time, Cohen was allegedly cheating on her, which has reportedly led to their split.

“I am committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease and want to thank everyone who has offered their unwavering support during this trying time,” she added.

A rep for Cohn did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
