EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — More than two dozen educators in the El Paso Independent School District have scored extra supplies to enhance their classrooms.

The twenty-five teachers were recipients of grants from the El Paso Community Foundation. On Thursday, the selected educators were able to pick up their supplies.

The foundation recently awarded $50,000 worth of school supplies to 59 El Paso and Las Cruces area educators this year. The awards include: books, science kits, athletic equipment, and technology.

Awards from the community foundation come from its Classroom Fund, which was founded in 2011 to directly provide full-time educators in the area with requested materials.

An in-person celebration was held at the foundation on July 20 in Downtown El Paso.

“Another big congratulations to the 2021 recipients of the Classroom fund,” the El Paso Community Foundation said on Facebook. “We were excited to return to an in-person celebration this year.”
