Two local firefighters are honored with their community's highest award after saving a woman's life.

On Sunday, August 7, The Sturgis Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in downtown Sturgis.

While searching the home, firefighters Scott Lensegrav and Clint Walker found and removed a woman from the home.

Because of their act of heroism, the City of Sturgis awarded them with the Sturgis Municipal Medal of Honor.

"It was just part of the day, just part of the job. It's nice that they recognized me, but there's a lot more people that were involved in it," Rapid City firefighter and Sturgis Fire Department assistant chief Scott Lensegrav said.

Lieutenant Jim Bussell with the RCFD said no one at the fire department is surprised by his act, or the award, because he is a great professional, firefighter and leader.
