BARNARDS Green returned to winning ways ahead of a busy two weeks.

The Malvern side beat Bridgnorth by four wickets to earn 24 Birmingham League Division One points after bowling their North End Lane visitors out for 188.

After a few disappointing results, Green bounced back with three players returning to the fold and leapfrogged their opponents up to sixth in the table.

Green host Halesowen on Saturday in the league (noon) before Kidderminster visit in the competition's T20 Challenge Cup on Sunday (2pm).

The following weekend, they travel to Bromsgrove on Saturday before hosting Pershore in the Grays County Cup quarter-final on Sunday (3pm).

Bridgnorth won the toss and chose to bat first but started slowly with maiden overs from Phil Harris and Jon Dovey.

Openers Ian Gregory and Ryan Lockley took the score to 41 in the 10th over when Jon Dovey had the former caught by Josh Blunt for 15.

Just four overs and seven runs later he struck again when Mark Macpherson-Lees (1) was caught behind by Ash Brewer.

Simon Gregory and Lockley established a solid partnership as seam turned to spin through Blunt and George Rhodes.

The score was on 120 when their partnership of 71 was broken by Rhodes when Simon Gregory (43) was caught by Tom Banks.

Blunt then struck twice in two overs, trapping David Laird (0) and David Exall (5) lbw.

Thomas Weaver (9) was run out by Adam Wiffen to leave Bridgnorth on 133-6 in the 38th over.

Lockley (75 not out) passed his fifty but his team-mates were dismissed by Rhodes.

Adam Quiney (9) was caught by Blunt, captain Sam Whitney (10) caught and bowled and Gareth Mumford (6) caught behind.

Sam Baugh got caught by Dovey for three as Bridgnorth were bowled out in the 52nd over.

Lockley hit four fours and two sixes while Rhodes finished with 5-65.

In reply, openers Wiffen and Ryan Tongue started confidently with a boundary from the latter bringing up the 50 in the 10th over.

Bridgnorth broke through when Quiney trapped Wiffen lbw for 28 with the score on 71.

Olly Swift started slowly but built on the good start alongside Tongue with a partnership of 54 before the latter was stumped by Mumford off Whitney with his 76 including eight fours and three sixes.

Swift (24) was caught by Whitney off Baugh before Harris hit a six second ball to bring up the 150 but then was out the next ball lbw.

Green needed 39 off 23 overs with six wickets in hand and lost Rhodes (10) stumped by Mumford off Whitney.

Brewer and Blunt took few risks but also hit a few boundaries.

With the score on 167 Brewer (8) was bowled by Baugh (3-46).

But Will Dovey and Blunt took Green to victory with nine overs to spare.

Blunt's winning boundary took him to 19no and Dovey finished on 11no.
