70-year-old Indiana woman killed in north Alabama crash

An Indianapolis woman was killed late Sunday in a north Alabama crash, authorities said.

Rosemary Norland, 70, was declared dead at Huntsville Hospital, said Lt. Michael Johnson.

Officers were called to the crash at University and Waddell drives around 7 p.m. The scene was in front of the Target shopping center.

Johnson said Norland was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her husband. The vehicle was eastbound on University when the husband attempted to turn left onto Waddell, according to police. The vehicle pulled out in front of a westbound car, Johnson said.

The husband was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
