Woman found unconscious on Bronx street, cops ask public’s help identifying her

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

Cops are asking the public’s help identifying a woman found unconscious on a Bronx streetcorner.

Somebody called 911 when the woman, believed to be about 50, was spotted unconscious at the corner of E. 174th St. and Ward Ave. in Soundview about 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

A witness told police the woman fell to the ground, possibly striking her head.

EMTs took her to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.

Cops released a picture of the woman in her hospital bed Tuesday and asked the public’s help identifying her.

A police source said the woman does not appear to have been the victim of a crime. Her medical history, the source said, may have been a factor.

The woman is black, about 5-feet-4 and 130 pounds. She was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and black sneakers.

Police ask anyone with information about the woman or the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
