Free showing Tuesday of David Zeisberger film

NEW PHILADELPHIA "David Zeisberger: Apostle of the Indians," a film which tells the story of Schoenbrunn’s founder, David Zeisberger, will be shown beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Quaker Cinema in downtown New Philadelphia.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and prior to the screening, guests will be able to listen to music provided by a Moravian Brass Band and interact with costumed characters from Historic Schoenbrunn Village and outdoor drama "Trumpet in the Land,:

There is not charge to attend the showing, but donations will be accepted.

The documentary movie – filmed partly in Tuscarawas County – features 60 years of David Zeisberger’s life among the Indians.

"A native of Suchdol nad Odrou (what is now a town in modern day Czech Republic], David Zeisberger lived most of his life on the other side of the ocean,” said a spokesman for VistaFilm. In cooperation with Czech Television, VistaFilm produced the 52-minute documentary as part of a series titled "Protestant History."

After the showing, attendees are invited to visit The Daily Grind Café for light refreshments and a discussion on the film.

Historic Schoenbrunn Village was founded in 1772 as a Moravian mission among the Delaware Indians. Teh village is now operated by the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum and owned by the Ohio History Connection. The Village is located at 1984 East High Ave., off of U.S. Route 250.
