'We love you Maccy Moo,' the brunette shares with her fans.

It's unknown at this stage as to whether her dog has passed away, is ill, or is simply a sweet tribute.  Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Kate's representatives for comment.

Kate's post comes shortly after Today Extra host Sonia Kruger revealed that her beloved dog Fergie died over the weekend.

The 52-year-old TV presenter paid tribute to her pet during a segment on the program on Monday.

Sonia fought back tears and was comforted by her co-host David Campbell as a montage of Fergie's best moments played on screen.

'Fergie was nearly 16 and she's been part of my life since she was six weeks old,' said Sonia, introducing the segment.

'I was inundated with messages [of support] from people and so many of you shared your experiences that I thought I would show you some of the good times I had with Fergs.'

Then, a highlight reel of Fergie through the years was aired while Bill Withers' song  Lovely Day played in the background.

Following the tribute, David hugged his tearful co-anchor and said: 'We'll miss ya, Ferg. The crew loved you too.'

'Yeah, everybody did,' Sonia cried.

Sonia took to Instagram over the weekend to share the sad news that Fergie had died aged 15.

Posting a photo of her dog, she wrote in the caption: 'Goodbye my darling Fergie... I will never forget you. 2003 - 2018'.

She also quoted a Rudyard Kipling poem about grieving a pet.

'When the body that lived at your single will / With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still). When the spirit that answered your every mood / Is gone - wherever it goes - for good / You will discover how much you care / And will give your heart to a dog to tear,' read the quote.
