Malcolm Tent

Oct. 15 @ Gravity Records

Tent played with '80s hardcore band Broken Talent, started a record label and a record store, and hosts a radio show. He brings his acoustic punk rock storytelling back to town, this time with friend Tim Holehouse from England and Wilmington punk rockers Street Clones. The Toasters

Oct. 16 @ Reggie's 42nd Street Tavern

Celebrated, high-energy New York City band has been making music since 1981, when The Toasters formed a label and released debut album "Skaboom," which blended ska with New Wave and Jamaican styles. Ensuing albums maintained a core sound while exploring, funk and reggae, even doing a '60s tribute album in 1996. With Madd Hatters and Bastard Brigade. Anthony Saturno

Oct. 16 @ Juggling Gypsy

Singer-songwriter from Syracuse has an interesting mix of intimate material, from wandering instrumentals to energetic rockers. Details: 9 p.m. Tuesday, 1612 Castle St., Wilmington.

Jordyn Pepper

Oct. 17 @ Ted's Fun on the River

Nashville singer-songwriter plays country music laced with tender melodies and a defiantly free spirit. On textured songs, Pepper's sunshine-filled voice carries ache with strength and shares relatable stories (see "Barefoot & Broke" and "Back to My Roots"). Sabin Sharpe

Oct. 19 @ Mad Boar Restaurant & Bar

Columbia, S.C., native is a country singer with a gravelly, soulful voice and a fresh approach to the genre. The music is a mix of country and rock done with a storyteller's eye. He delivers the goods on the ballad "When I Met You" and slow-burning rocker "Start a Fire." Details: 7 p.m. Friday, 111 River Village Place, Wallace.

Toy Called God

Oct. 19 @ The Calico Room

Touring behind new album "#Socialvangelism," this California hard rock band takes aim at the pathology of societal interaction via social media. Their sound shows the lasting influence of bands like Alice in Chains and Pantera, from crunchy guitar riffs to haunting vocals. With Open Wire. Details: 9 p.m. Friday, 107 S. Front St., Wilmington.

Corey Smith

Oct. 19 @ Greenfield Lake Amphitheater

Smith's country-music success has come from hard work and humble beginnings in Georgia. A high school teacher when his debut album came out in 2003, Smith released two more records, then quit and grew a base by touring heavily across eight studio albums. LITZ

Oct. 19 @ The Whiskey

Funk with a poppy, theatrical side from this Maryland act whose sound is soaked in dirty horns (check out their eight-minute "Holy Mountain"), throaty vocals (a murky cover of "I Put a Spell On You") and an array of flavors, including soul, psychedelia and electronic. In 2016, LITZ released a cool David Bowie tribute album. With Space Kadet. Details: 9 p.m. Friday, 1 S. Front St., Wilmington.

Good Good Grief

Oct. 19 @ Reggie's 42nd Street Tavern

Gnarly Wilmington punk rock band Good Good Grief follows up their 2016 debut with a new album for this show, although physical copies have been delayed due to the hurricane. Given the band's interest in horror flicks, the show is timed well for the upcoming holiday. With Dead Rites and Poison Anthem. Leaders Among Equals

Oct. 20 @ Reggie's 42nd Street Tavern

Wilmington band plays cool, atmospheric rock that at times feels exploratory. Featuring vocals from Steve Mousseau (Black Mantis, Great Zeus' Beard). With fellow locals Slumberwave and Exploding Math Lab. Details: 9 p.m. Saturday, 1415 S. 42nd St., Wilmington.

Universal Sigh

Oct. 20 @ The Whiskey

Athens, Georgia, rock band plays a vibrant, high-energy combo of jam band, jazz and prog rock. Songs can be elegantly brief or turn into something akin to an imaginative, lengthy voyage. Details: 9 p.m. Saturday, 1 S. Front St., Wilmington.

'One Tree Hill' concert experience

Oct. 21 @ Brooklyn Arts Center

Showcase for fans of the locally filmed TV show "One Tree Hill," which retains a fan base despite coming to an end in 2012. Musicians associated with the show -- Jana Kramer, Wakey Wakey, Joy Lenz, Tyler Hilton and Kate Voegele -- come together to play a variety of genres, including country, alternative, rock and pop. Mavis Staples

Oct. 21 @ Greenfield Lake Amphitheater

With a career that's stretched for more than 60 years, Staples' music combines gospel, soul and R&B. Singing with her family, The Staple Singers, she helped make up a large part of the Stax Records catalog. Her many pop hits are also thought provoking, including "I'll Take You There" and "Respect Yourself." Her 2017 album, "If All I Was Was Black," was produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.
