South Bound Brook Teen Killed By NJ Transit Train: Police

Raritan Valley train resumed service around midnight following the fatal crash.

BOUND BROOK, NJ — The identity of the man reportedly struck and killed by a train at the Bound Brook station on Thursday night has been released, according to NJ Transit.

The mans identity is Matthew Borja, 18, of South Bound Brook.

Raritan Valley Line train 5454, which departed Raritan at 8:47 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Newark Penn at 9:45 p.m. struck and fatally injured Borja, NJ Transit Spokesman Jim Smith said.

There were 10 customers and crew on board with no reported injuries to any of them. Raritan Valley Lineservice was temporarily suspended in both directions between Dunellen and Bound Brook for about three hours but resumed around midnight, according to Smith.

NJ Transit Police Department is leading the investigation.
