New Delhi, Feb 24: Sending a stern warning to Pakistan, Army chief General Bipin Rawat on Friday said that the country will have to pay for the Sunjuwan military camp attack in Jammu, sooner or later. The Army chief also said that the Indian Army has many options, including a surgical strike.

“Pakistan thinks it is fighting a war that is paying them dividends but we have several options, including surgical strike,” General Rawat said in an interview to Hindustan Times.

General Rawat also said that India will order a ceasefire when Pakistan stops sending its terrorists over here (India). “The Indian Army will honour the ceasefire and de-escalate tensions the day Pakistan stops sending terrorists across the line of control,” General Rawat said. At least six Indian soldiers and a civilian were killed when Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists stormed the 36 Brigade headquarters of the Army at Sunjwan in Jammu region. Four terrorists were killed after the retaliatory attack by the Army. “Pakistan will pay for its “misadventure,” Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said.

She had then added that India has enough evidence to prove that the attack originated from Pakistan. “Intelligence inputs indicate that these terrorists were being controlled by their handlers from across the border. Pakistan is expanding the arc of terror, resorting to ceasefire violations to assist infiltration. It will pay for this misadventure,” she had said. It was earlier reported that the three heavily-armed JeM terrorists had infiltrated into Kashmir from Pakistan in June last year. According to preliminary investigation of the Army, the three terrorists were hiding in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir for the past seven months and were looking at carrying out an attack.

The attack on the camp came days after four Army men were killed in Pakistani firing in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. Army sources said full freedom has been given to local commanders of the army along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir to effectively retaliate any act of violence by Pakistani troops.
