Also finishing in the top 15 was senior Sean Carlon who kicked off the tournament with a first-round score of 69 (-2), putting him in a tie for 13th.

“Nice playing by the team today,” head coach Glen Millican said. “Three rounds in the sixties is great playing and it really helped us get started well in round one.”

Redshirt-junior Mark MacGrath recorded one eagle on the day while Carlon and Green both sunk five birdies in the round. MacGrath is tied for 78th with a 78 (+7) while freshman Sam Choi completed round one tied for 61st carding a 74 (+3).

“We had a couple guys struggle a little but they made some nice par saves on the back nine to help us keep a good round together,” Millican said.

The action continues on Monday with round two, followed by the third and final round on Tuesday.
