It's the first time he has seen family face-to-face since he moved to the US with Meghan and the couple's son Archie in March last year.

An eye witness told The Sun the royal got off a British Airways flight from Los Angeles which arrived at Heathrow at 1.15pm yesterday.

He will spend the following days in quarantine at Frogmore, and can leave after day five if he provides a negative test.

But either way, Harry will be allowed to attend Philip's funeral - as Government guidelines state those coming in from abroad can leave isolation "on compassionate grounds".

It comes as...

  • Prince Harry remembered his Prince Philip as a "legend of banter" after returning to the UK for his grandfather's funeral
  • Prince William hailed the "extraordinary" duke and shared a sweet photo of son George in an emotional tribute to Philip
  • Kate and Wills vowed to 'get on with the job' like the Duke of Edinburgh would have wanted
  • Boris Johnson paid tribute to Prince Philip's 'unfailing dedication'
  • The Queen's support network after her husband's death was revealed

Frogmore - Harry's official home under the Megxit deal - has since been handed to Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank and their baby, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

It's not known where the princess and her family are currently staying.

Harry is said to be keen to spend time with the Queen.

Harry and Meghan spent £2.4million of taxpayers money on transforming the cottage on the Windsor Castle estate into a family home.

The refurbishment included a £50,000 eco-friendly boiler, designer kitchen and yoga room and refurbished bathrooms.

But the Sussexes have not stepped foot inside their massively-renovated home since March 2020.

Removal vans emptied the cottage after they bought an £11m California mansion.

In September, Harry revealed he had paid off the £2.4million to the taxpayer spent on renovations.

News of the prince's temporary home comes after Harry this afternoon paid tribute to his "witty" grandfather - and remembered the Duke as the "master of the barbecue and legend of banter".

In a written statement, Prince Harry said: "My grandfather was a man of service, honour and great humour.

"He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm - and also because you never knew what he might say next.

"He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke.

"But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end.

"He has been a rock for Her Majesty The Queen with unparalleled devotion, by her side for 73 years of marriage, and while I could go on, I know that right now he would say to all of us, beer in hand, 'Oh do get on with it!'

"So on that note, Grandpa, thank you for your service, your dedication to Granny, and for always being yourself.

"You will be sorely missed, but always remembered - by the nation and the world.

"Meghan, Archie, and I (as well as your future great-granddaughter) will always hold a special place for you in our hearts."
