According to Florida Highway Patrol, one man is dead after being ejected from a pickup truck Saturday night.

Officials said the incident happened on US 231, north of Mill Road in Jackson County.

Terry Whitehead, 68, was reportedly heading south on US 231 in the southbound lane when he failed to make a left curve.

According to FHP, the Toyota Tacoma traveled onto the west shoulder while still driving south.

Officials said Whitehead over corrected back to the left and then the truck traveled back onto the roadway, moving across both southbound lanes and into the median.

When the driver steered the pickup truck back to the right, troopers said the vehicle began to rotate.

They said the truck began to overturn traveling into the northbound lanes and the driver was ejected.

The Florida Highway Patrol officials said they were assisted on scene by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Fire Rescue EMS, and the Alford Volunteer Fire Department.
