Following radio host Craig Carton’s arrest and resignation from “Boomer and Carton in the Morning,” WFAN has announced Gregg Giannotti as the show’s new co-host.

The radio show announced Wednesday that Giannotti will be joining WFAN host Boomer Esiason as a permanent co-host starting 2018.

Giannotti, currently the co-host of CBS Sports Radio’s morning show “Gio and Jones,” has served as a fill-in host with Esiason during Carton’s resignation. It has not been specified if he will leave his post on the “Gio and Jones” show.

The new duo’s show, “Boomer and Gio” will debut on Jan. 2.

Carton was arrested at his home on Sept. 6 and announced his resignation a few days later, citing that “unfounded legal issues currently plaguing” him would be a distraction to everyone at WFAN.

Carton and business partner Joseph Meli are accused of running a scheme in which they used funds from new investors to repay earlier investors and other debts. He was also allegedly involved in a wire and securities fraud case with another business partner.

Carton allegedly defrauded over $2 million.

WFAN also announced the replacement of their afternoon show host, Mike Francesa.

After deciding not to renew his contract, which ends at the end of the year, Francesca’s last day with on the afternoon show will be Dec. 15. He will be replaced by Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray, and Bart Scott, who will serve as the new afternoon show team starting Jan. 2.
