Local Band Wins Battle of The Bands at Toad's place

Impulse Control will open for a National Act at Toad's

Local Band Wins Final Round of Battle of the Bands

Impulse Control, a local Shoreline Band with members from Madison, Guilford, Westbrook and Oakville , were named the winners in the Final battle, held November 1st at Toad’s Place in New Haven. The band had previously won the first round of competition in September.

The band has been playing together for 7 months and originally met through attending the School Of Rock in Madison.

Impulse Control will now have the opportunity to open for a Headliner at Toad’s Place.

The owner of School of Rock in Madison, Courtney Gibbons, attended the competition to support the band and commented ‘It has been a joy to see of these kids grows as artists and as people. It has been a privilege to get to know them and their parents and watch their musical skills and confidence develop.’

'I could not be more proud of the kids and our fantastic instructors at School of Rock Madison.'

Music Director Mike Molyneux, who has worked with all the band members for several years, was thrilled for the kids and their win. ‘It has been amazing to see these young people grow as artists and gain such confidence as performers. This win was well deserved and all of us at SOR are thrilled for them!’

Impulse Control is made up of Mitch Yaggi, left on Bass, Ryan Shea, on Drums, Sammi Distefano on Vocals, , Dillon Sallisky on Guitar, and Josh Zubee, also on Guitar.

Jason Hess , of Jason Hess Photography happened to be at Toad's place that evening and begin photographing the band after hearing them . 'I've been in bands and photographing bands for over 30 years and they really impressed me with their sound . ' In particular, the lead singer has a very rich tone to her voice .
