The Ellington Singers presented its annual Spring Musicale, at the Ellington Senior Center on the afternoon of April 12.

The group, comprised of more than 30 seniors, has existed in some form since as early as 1984, and officially became the Ellington Singers in 2006.

The singers performed 21 songs, including “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “You Made Me Love You,” “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime,” and a group of songs from the musical South Pacific, as well as a medley of songs honoring the American military.

Ellington Singers Director Mary Regan said the group could always get larger.

“We need more singers,” Regan said. “If you’re 55 or older, and you’d like to join us, we begin rehearsals again the first Wednesday in September. We’re particularly looking for what everyone is looking for… men.”

No musical knowledge is required, Regan added.

The group will also be visiting several nursing homes in the area, before taking a break for the summer.
