ANNAPOLIS, MD — After heay rains in the Annapolis and Bowie areas, with more possible Monday morning, the National Weather Service has extended a flood warning for three counties. The NWS says low-lying flooding is likely where the heaviest rain occurs. Just before 1 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause flooding; 2 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen and additional rain is expected this afternoon.

A food warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Residents should take necessary precautions immediately. Anne Arundel County Police say Route 214 was shut down Sunday at Fern Hill Court in Edgewater because of flooding. Traffic is being diverted and drivers should use an alternate route.
