EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A Texas Women's Hall of Fame inductee will be this year's grand marshal for the El Paso Thanksgiving Parade.
Ginger Kerrick was born and raised in the Sun City and is currently living in Houston, where she works for NASA.
The Hanks High School alum was honored in the Texas Women's Hall of Fame this year for her work as a flight director at the Johnson Space Center.
She said the recognition has been unbelievable.
"Growing up in El Paso, I watched the Sun Bowl Parade every Thanksgiving Day," Kerrick said. "To have the honor of being Grand Marshal, and traveling a route that is less than a quarter of a mile from Price's Creameries where my father spent his entire career -- I am overwhelmed with humility and gratitude. Thank you so much, El Paso!"
She has been with the space agency for 25 years and is in charge of mission control for numerous international space station and shuttle missions.
This year’s parade theme is “80 Years Around the World" It’s scheduled to start at 10 a.m. along Montana Avenue at Ochoa and ending at Copia.
More than 250,000 spectators lined Montana Avenue in 2015.
