The Road to WrestleMania officially begins as WWE gets ready for its first landmark pay-per-view of 2020 in Houston, Texas.

And while her focus is fully on successfully defending her WWE Smackdown title against Lacey Evans at the Royal Rumble, the 30-yer-old superstar admits she would one day love to step on the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All’ in London.

“Honestly, I would love that,” she said, speaking to Mirror WWE before Sunday’s pay-per-view extravaganza live on BT Sport Box Office .

“It’s something that I get asked almost every single time I go over there, whenever I do interviews… as if it is up to me!

“People are like, ‘When are you going to bring WrestleMania here?’ And I’m like, I don’t know!
“But I would love, love to do that. In fact, I know almost everybody else would love to.

“Especially because our families always come out to these big events like the Royal Rumbles, WrestleMania’s and all of these big pay-per-views.

“I mean that would be such a cool family trip to be able to go do something like that. So, hopefully one day.”

Remaining champion in the build-up to this year’s Mania in Tampa is Bayley’s priority, of course.

Many believe she is on an exciting collision course to clash with her best friend Sasha Banks - but Bayley admits there is a Raw superstar who she would relish going to-to-toe with.

“You know for the past year, since I moved to Smackdown, I’ve always wanted to work with Liv Morgan - and I have kind of been calling her out as much as I can,” she said.

“And now she’s got her new thing going on, the whole the ‘new Liv Morgan’ and all that. But I would still much like to have a championship match with her.”

She faces a formidable opponent in Lacey Evans first - and is desperate to put an end to her bad streak at the Rumble.

“Lose to Lacey? No way. No way.

“If I can hold onto this for a complete year that would be huge goal of mine.

“Right now, I’m already the longest combined Smackdown women’s champion. So I think that a huge accomplishment that nobody can take away from me. I’m also a Grand Slam women’s champion. I’m the first-ever women’s tag team champions. I was Money in the Bank winner. I’ve done a lot in the last year.

“I’m looking for this to be my first win at the Royal Rumble because I have had some bad luck in the past few years.”

Bayley has undergone a massive transformation in character during that time from being the self-styled ‘Hugger’ to a menacing ‘heel’.

But she admits there are moments when being the bad girl can be tricky - particularly when it comes to her fervent UK fan-base.

“It’s fun and I love that they are super into it,” she said.

“Back in NXT, those were some of my favourite memories whenever we went over to the UK and having TakeOver in London. Those are great memories personally I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do these days but I know they understand.

“I think it’s always been inside me and you kind of have to have it to be able to succeed in this business, so that’s where I’m at right now.”

Bayley quickly turns focus back to the Rumble and why it is so special as the countdown to WrestleMania 36 begins.

“I am excited,” she said.

“For me personally, and probably SummerSlam also, it is one of the biggest weekends of the year in WWE.

“We put a lot our pressure on ourselves at this time of year. But for me in particular, as the Smackdown women’s champion, I have to because I am defending my title.

“I’m really bad at history and all that stuff. The one thing that really sticks out for me though, was when Chyna entered the Royal Rumble before there was the women’s match. That was probably my favourite memory.

“But I love all the excitement.Like when AJ Styles debuted, all the NXT people we were all up in the box watching and that was really cool - just like with Chyna and also when Beth Phoenix entered. You can’t forget Santino… or Santina!

“It’s just great. I love the Rumble.”
