WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have charged a 14-year-old Woonsocket High School student after they say he was found with a pistol and ammo on school grounds Thursday.
According to the Woonsocket Police Department, a school resource officer was notified by a school administrator who said she saw the student with a gun.
Police said the school resource officer found an unloaded pistol and some ammo in the student’s backpack.
Police have charged the student with possession of a firearm on school grounds, possession of firearm by a minor, license required to carry pistol and possession of ammunition by a minor. Police ensure no threats were made to anyone.
1130 am Woon High School S.R.O. was notified by a member of the school’s admin a 14 y.o. was observed with a gun. SRO located the Student and found an unloaded pistol. The student is currently being held at the RI Training School pending an arraignment in family court on Friday.
The incident remains under investigation.
