Minnesota Vikings Free Agency: Nick Easton to sign with New Orleans Saints

And another potential option goes by the boards

Most of us thought that part of the Minnesota Vikings’ revamping of their offensive line would include the return of Nick Easton, who was set to start at left guard for the Vikings in 2018 before a herniated disk cost him his entire season. Unfortunately, it would appear that Easton is taking his talents elsewhere.

Adam Schefter of ESPN (among others) is reporting that Easton will be signing a four-year, $24 million deal with the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints, along with the Vikings and one other (unnamed) team, were reportedly interested in Easton’s services. However, with the surprise retirement of Max Unger, the Saints’ starting center from last season, it would appear that they felt compelled to make Easton an offer that he couldn’t refuse, and now he’s on the move down south.

I think it would have been nice to have Easton back. His versatility to play any of the three interior line positions would have been a good thing for the Vikings to have. However, I’m also not sure if Easton is worth $6 million a season, but the Saints apparently did.

So, another potential option for the Vikings on the offensive line has gone by the boards. Obviously we’ll be keeping an eye out to see if anything else happens this week.
