Food Fight At Downtown Sushi Restaurant Sparks Police Chase

What do you get when you throw food in a trendy sushi bar, nearly run over a cop, and run from the police? Arrested.

HOUSTON, TX — A food fight at a Houston area sushi bar turned into a bizarre police chase that led to an arrest of a woman, police said. The entire incident began to unfold at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at a restaurant in the 6300 Westheimer Road.

Police said they received a report of three angry women fighting, and throwing sushi and water at each other. When police pulled into the parking lot, they found the women fighting and throwing food.

One of the women decided to leave, and jumped in her car and barely missed running over a Houston Police officer as she drove away from the restaurant.

Houston Police Lt. Larry Crowson said the officer was able to dodge the car, which then sparked a slow speed pursuit that meandered for more than 10 miles to a home at Pinemont Street and Ella Blvd.

Police said the woman pulled into her driveway but refused to get out of her car. The woman sat in her car for about 10 minutes talking on her cellphone and ignored the officer's commands to get out.

Officers eventually surrounded the woman’s car and used a tool to punch out the glass and forcibly removed the woman, police said.

The kicking and screaming woman was taken into custody and could face evading charges. The case has been referred to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Police did not say of the other two women were arrested during the food melee.
