And we literally can’t contain our excitement...
Disney has announced their list of upcoming movies for the next three years during a recent fan convention, and nobody can control their excitement.
The three-year schedule features a whopping 20 Disney flicks for us all to look forward to – and from The Incredibles 2 to Toy Story 4, it looks like we’re in for a treat. Spoiler alert – Mulan AND Aladdin are on the list. We can’t wait either.
Here are the upcoming Disney releases for the next three years…
Disney Films 2018
Black Panther
Kicking off 2018, this new Marvel film introduces a brand new superhero: Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman will star in the main role but Sterling K Brown, Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan are among his cast mates. Release date: 16th February 2018
A Wrinkle in Time
Based on the fantasy novel of the same, the movie stars a whole host of Hollywood heavyweights from Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine, to Mindy Kaling and Oprah Winfrey. Release date: 9th March 2018
Avengers: Infinity War
The 2018 feature will be the first half of an exciting two-part sequel, starring not only Chris Pratt but Tom Holland as Spiderman and Zoe Saldana as her Guardians of the Galaxy character, Gamora, as well. Release date: 28th April 2018
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Another Star Wars film is in the works, with this spin-off prequel following the life of Han Solo. The young Han will be played by Alden Ehrenreich, with Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson to co-star and Ron Howard will direct. Release date: 25th May 2018
The Incredibles 2
The long-awaited sequel to The Incredibles has finally been confirmed with Brad Bird, the original film's writer and director, returning to the project - plus of course Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone. Some are even speculating that Jack-Jack, the baby in the original film, will be the villain in this second instrumental. Release date: 16th June 2018
Ant-Man and the Wasp
The sequel to Marvel's 2015 action movie Ant-Man welcomes back familiar favourites Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly. Though the plot has been kept under wraps, it's expected to be as big a hit as its predecessor.
Mulan
Mulan is the next Disney film to follow the live-action remake trend and we are so excited. The actress to play Mulan has been revealed in the story of a young Chinese woman disguises herself as a warrior to save her father. Release date: 2nd November 2018
Cruella
The live action film (starring Emma Stone as Cruella De Vil BTW) will follow the 101 Dalmatians villain, and we can’t wait. Fifty Shades writer Kelly Marvel is even tapped to write the script. Release date: 22nd December 2018
Mary Poppins Returns
With Emily Blunt already cast as Mary Poppins in the live-action remake, it is rumoured that Meryl Streep might feature, and there is even speculation that Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke will return. Release date: 25th December 2018
Disney Films 2019
Captain Marvel
The long-awaited female led superhero film will (finally) be coming to our screens in 2019, with Brie Larson already cast as the character, Captain Marvel, in the sci-fi action adventure film. #Girlpower Release date: 8th March 2019
Dumbo (Live Action)
Starring Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Colin Farrell and Danny DeVito, the live action remake of the elephant with abnormally large ears who learns to fly. Release date: 29th March 2019
Avengers: Infinity War – Part II
The third and final instalment of The Avengers will be the twenty-second film to be released by Marvel studios. The plot is currently unknown but Evangeline Lilly will be starring as The Wasp. Enough said. Release date: 3rd May 2019
Star Wars episode IX
Yes this is the second Star Wars film on our list. No details have been confirmed as of yet but it has been announced that the director will be Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow. Release date: 24th May 2019
Aladdin
Disney have confirmed Naomi Scott will take on the role of Jasmine, Mena Massoud as Prince Ali and Will Smith as the Genie, in the live-action remake of Aladdin. Release date: May 2019
Toy Story 4
A fourth instalment of the Toy Story series and the sequel to Toy Story 3 has been confirmed, with this film focusing on the love story between Woody and Bo Peep. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and the rest of the cast will be returning as the toys try to reunite Woody and Bo. We can’t wait. Release date: 21st June 2019
The Lion King (Live Action)
Possibly the most exciting of all the Disney live action remakes, The Lion King is set to be absolutely epic with Donald Glover taking on the role of Simba, and loveable rogues Timone and Pumba played by none other than Billy Eichner and Seth Rogan. Release date: 19th July 2019
Frozen 2
Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are returning to voice everyone's favourite sisters (sorry, Olsens). The sequel to the incredibly successful 2013 Disney movie proves that we don't, in fact, have to let it go. Release date: 27th November 2019
Disney Films 2020
Gigantic
Inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk, Gigantic is said to be set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, following Jack, a young boy who befriends an 11-year-old 60 ft giantess. Release date: November 2020
Untitled Indiana Jones Film
Stephen Spielberg is to direct the sequel that will star Harrison Ford as everyone's favourite archeologist for another adventure.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3
Director and writer of the first two Guardians of the Galaxy installments, confirmed the third release via Twitter saying, "Coming in 2020".
