Coins stolen in Weyers Cave jewelry store burglary

WEYERS CAVE - A burglar went through a wall early Sunday morning, getting inside a local jewelry store and stealing several thousand dollars in coins, according to the Augusta County Sheriff's Office.

The heist took place at Rocky's Gold, Silver & Antiques in Weyers Cave on Lee Highway.

The sheriff's office said an alarm sounded Sunday shortly before 4:30 a.m.

Investigators determined access to the business was gained after a rear back wall was pried open.

Several cases were shattered and the coins stolen, according to the sheriff's office. 

The lone suspect was wearing a dark hoodie and gloves. 

Authorities are looking at surveillance tapes and evidence as the investigation remains ongoing.

The suspect is at-large.
