Milton Edward McGuire was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Aberdeen on Feb. 8, 1949, to Jack and Ann McGuire. He graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1967. Milt was a stand out football player, and a record setting discus and shot put thrower. He attended Grays Harbor Community College then transferred to Metropolitan State University in Colorado where he threw the discus and shot put. On Aug. 23, 1969, Milt married Karen Lindberg at the Calvary Lutheran Church located in Aberdeen. After recieving his degree from Metropolitan State, he went to work for Weyerhaeuser Forestry Services. He would later transfer to the pulp mill, where he was a journeyman painter. Milt retired from the pulp mill in 2006 and went to work for the Hoquiam School District as a security guard and para-educator for the next three years.

Milt was preceded in death by his wife Karen McGuire, his baby daughter Tanya, his parents Jack and Ann McGuire and his brother Gary McGuire. He is survived by his son Shawn McGuire and his wife Melanie Robertson, his daughter Melanie (Adam) Bridges; his grandchildren Marshall, Connor, Deacon, Landon and Tanner; His sister Sheri Heikkila, and a very special friend Betty Jones.

Milton loved to fish. He had his “spots” on the Chehalis and Humptulips Rivers. If the fish were in, Milton would know. He didn’t mind giving fishing reports, but he liked to keep a few secrets to himself. Milton loved his football. His two favorite teams were the Seattle Seahawks, and Husky football. He also enjoyed golfing with his “buddies” and participating in the Quinault fishing derbies. However, some of his most cherished moments were the ones spent with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as their “Papa.”

Graveside services will be held on Dec. 7, at 11:15 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, with a celebration of life at the Hoquiam Elks following the services, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The family wishes any monetary donations be sent to Hoquiam School District, 325 Chenault Ave., Hoquiam, WA 98550, to the Marla Parnell Fund.
