Geneseo, N.Y. – State Police says drivers can expect to see a heightened law enforcement presence Wednesday in the area of Route 63 and Route 20A in Geneseo.

Troopers, deputies and members of other police agencies will be out as part of the ongoing search for David Clyde Morgan.

In July, Morgan ran from a Geneseo police officer during a traffic stop after pointing a handgun at that officer.

Morgan managed to escape. His girlfriend, who was also in the vehicle, was taken into custody. Morgan has not been seen since.

Troopers say about 60 officers from agencies such as the State Police, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Geneseo Police will be in the area of the original traffic stop.

Authorities said Morgan may have been on the run in Livingston County after a drug raid at his home in North Carolina.

Morgan could face felony charges and additional federal prison time if he is caught.

U.S. Marshals, New York State Police and Livingston County Sheriff's deputies were on scene Wednesday morning to discuss the change in the search process.

"Prior to him leaving, he did mention that he was depressed and that he did want to commit suicide and flee,"said Charles Salina, U.S. Marshal for Western New York.

Salina added that before coming to western New York earlier this summer, Morgan went to South Carolina and gave a motorcycle to a friend, along with several other possessions that were close to him.

"We’ve worked many escape cases, many fugitive cases, and typically, within 24, 48, 72 hours, you get something credible where you get excited and say 'Alright, let’s focus in this area,'" Salina said. "We have not had one credible tip to where his location is, and that's kind of unusual."

Route 63 between Route 20A and the Jones Street bridge may be closed intermittently throughout the day.

Anyone who may have any information about Morgan's whereabouts is urged to call 911.
