Channel 4 has ordered a new sitcom pilot from Mighty Boosh star Rich Fulcher.

That's Rich is based in a family-run porn shop, which finds itself struggling against competition from the online porn industry.

Fulcher has penned the pilot, and will also star in the sitcom. It is Channel 4's first comedy commission from King Bert Productions.

The actor said: "I am so excited to get an opportunity to do a show with the team at Channel 4, the home to cutting edge comedy... and I plan to do a lot of edgy cutting.

"Everyone at Channel 4 is so receptive to the show - think Steptoe and Son set in a porn shop - and I feel like we're in another renaissance of great, original programming."

Nerys Evans, Deputy Head of Comedy at Channel 4, said: "It's very exciting to be working with King Bert as they have such a wealth of experience making brilliant studio comedy.

"Rich Fulcher is a rare and brilliant force of nature with real funny bones; it'll be amazing to capture his fantastic energy on screen."

In the show, Rich (Fulcher) can't understand why people would choose to view porn online when they can visit his family-run emporium, and he isn't keen to let his son, Alistair, modernise the shop to help save it.

Filming on That's Rich will begin in the spring.
