Nyheim Hines joins Pack15

GARNER — NC State landed its fourth four-star commitment in the senior class and second member of the Rivals100 when all-purpose back Nyheim Hines from Garner (N.C.) High verbally pledged to the Pack on Dec. 19 at a press conference at his school.
Hines, 5-8, 180 pounds, is rated the No. 99 senior in the country regardless of position by Rivals, joining defensive lineman Darian Roseboro of Lincolnton (N.C.) High (No. 39) in the top 100. Hines is also rated the No. 4 all-purpose back nationally in the 2015 class and the No. 4 recruit from the state rankings that are topped by Roseboro.

"Hines is one of the most electric players in the country and put up massive numbers this season," Rivals.com Southeast recruiting analyst Adam Friedman noted. "He can score from anywhere on the field, whether he takes a handoff, catches the ball on a screen pass or is a downfield receiver. With the ball in his hands, Hines is very good at making players miss with jukes to his left, right, spins and stiff arms."
Roseboro and Hines give NC State its first top 100 duo since running back Toney Baker and offensive lineman Curtis Crouch signed with the Wolfpack in 2005.
Also rated four stars in NCSU's class are offensive tackle Emanuel McGirt from Durham (N.C.) Hillside High and running back Reggie Gallaspy from Greensboro (N.C.) Southern Guilford High.
Hines burst onto the scene with a huge junior season. He ran 311 times for 3,129 yards and 50 touchdowns and added 10 more scores as a receiver or returning kicks. Hines also had 29 receptions for 599 yards. He followed that up by running for 2,362 yards and 38 touchdowns and adding 318 yards receiving and three more scores as a senior.
He has been selected to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Game Jan. 4 in Carson, Calif., on Jan. 4.
He is also one of the premier sprinters in the state. He has been timed as fast as 10.52 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 21.58 seconds in the 200 and 37.71 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. Hines finished second last year in the 4-A state finals of both the 100-meter dash (10.77 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (37.71 seconds)
During the recruiting process, Hines had made official visits to NC State (Oct. 11), Wake Forest (Nov. 21) and Virginia Tech (Dec. 12). He also hosted coaches from West Virginia and UNC for in-home visits and unofficially tripped to see Ohio State, Georgia and Florida during the summer, all of who had offered.
The Pack won out however, thanks to a persistent recruiting effort led by running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Des Kitchings and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Matt Canada. He pointed out that he's just as apt to talk about TV shows "Scandal" and "How To Get Away With Murder" on Thursday's on ABC as he is football with Kitchings.
"I'll talk about life and family," Hines said. "We'll talk about video games like Call of Duty. We'll talk about what he might get his son for Christmas. It's a lot more than football."
Hines was also sold on the potential of the NC State program under second-year head coach Dave Doeren.
"I know it was the coaches' first year last year," Hines pointed out. "They went from three wins to seven wins to a bowl game. Each year, they are progressing. Coach Doeren was telling me all the defensive guys coming back with so many freshman and redshirt freshman. I think the future bright is for them."
