Warminster Man Who Ran Over Wife While Drunk Sentenced

Andrew Lawrence Ryan likely will face even more charges if wife Robin Ryan, who remains unconscious a year later, dies from her wounds.

WARMINSTER, PA — A Warminster man who was driving drunk when he ran over his wife will spend at least seven years in prison — and may be facing even steeper charges in the future.

Andrew Lawrence Ryan, 32, pleaded guilty in July to charges that included felony assault and hit-and-run. The Intelligencer reports that on Wednesday, he was sentenced to 7-20 years in prison for the incident, which happened July 24, 2017 in Falls Township.

His legal journey may not be over, though. The paper reports that a doctor last week described Robin Ryan, also 32, as being "minimally conscious" with virtually no chance of recovering from her injuries. If she dies, Andrew Ryan will face additional charges, prosecutors say.

Authorities say Andrew Ryan had been drinking when he and his wife were driving along the 100 block of Lincoln Highway last year.

Witnesses told police they heard tires screeching and saw the pickup truck speeding and swerving hard just before Robin Ryan flew from the cab, landing head-first. Witnesses told investigators she flew out of the truck backwards, and one told police it appeared she had been pushed from the cab.

The truck was hauling a landscaping trailer, which ran her over as Andrew Ryan sped away, authorities said. Witnesses found her unconscious and unresponsive, bleeding heavily from her head, ears, nose and mouth, according to authorities.
Robin Ryan suffered severe traumatic brain injury, multiple broken bones, and other injuries as a result.

State police stopped the truck on Trenton Road in Fairless Hills less than 10 minutes later. Andrew Ryan appeared to be intoxicated and admitted to drinking before driving. He had a blood alcohol concentration of .12 percent, police said.

Andrew Ryan told police that he was with his wife at a bar before leaving for Warminster to pick up their daughter. He said he had four beers and two shots of tequila, and that the two of them had been bickering about finances, according to the District Attorney's office.
