CLEVELAND, Ohio — Charges have now been filed against a man for a pipe bomb incident that tied up traffic on Interstate 90 for hours Saturday, and court papers reveal how it all unfolded.
Carl Bradley, 39, of Jefferson, has now been charged with unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance.
Records show a Cleveland Metroparks ranger saw a car near the Gordon Boat Ramp turn without signaling. The driver was then pulled over.
The driver, police say, had a suspended license, and police noticed “track marks.” Police say the man admitted he had used heroin.
Rangers say they found a “PVC pipe with end caps on both ends,” plus “wires sticking out of one end with electrical tape.”
Rangers say Bradley first told them he had found the device. Then they say Bradley “admitted that he was trying to sell the device in Cleveland.”
The device was detonated by the Cleveland Police Bomb Squad.
Rangers say that in the car they also found other items that “could be used as components for bombs” as well as heroin and needles.
