After a vetted national search, Pooler has announced that Ashley Brown will be the city's new police chief.

Brown will be coming to the City of Pooler Police Department from Savannah police, formerly Savannah-Chatham police, where he held the rank of captain and commander of the Southside precinct, according to a city press release.

Brown holds 16 letters of commendation from metro, and multiple police training certifications including law enforcement officer, field training and leadership in police organizations from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

“Ashley is a 24-year veteran of the Savannah-Chatham Police Department. Having served as a former assistant commander of the Savannah-Chatham Downtown Special Operations Unit, undercover vice officer, homicide investigator and former patrol officer, Brown understand all facets of the organization,” Pooler Mayor Mike Lamb said. “We are happy to have him on board and are confident that he will excel as our chief of police.”

Brown was elected to the City of Pooler Council in 2015. He is a graduate of Groves High School and Armstrong State University and is a longtime Pooler resident.
