What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2018 In Falls Church

Here's your guide to what's open and closed on Thanksgiving and the surrounding days.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—Many services will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday in the City of Falls Church and Fairfax County. Some will remain closed on Black Friday, including government offices, libraries and schools.

If you're around for the holiday, the public is invited to A Very Victorian Christmas at the Cherry Hill Farmhouse Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The free event will have costumed re-enactors, period decorations, music, Christmas carols and children’s activities.

Here are the openings and closings to know on and around Thursday, Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving) and Friday, Nov. 23 (Black Friday).

City of Falls Church and Fairfax County Offices: City of Falls Church offices will be open on Nov. 21, except the Court Clerk's Office and Sheriff's Office, which will close at noon. City of Falls Church government offices will be closed Nov. 22-23. Fairfax County government is closed Nov. 22-23.

Schools: Falls Church City Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools are closed Nov. 21-23.

State Offices: Fairfax County and Arlington County courts will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 21 and are closed Nov.22-23.

Community Centers: Falls Church Community Center is closed on Nov. 22 and open Nov. 23 from 8:30 a.m.-11 p.m.. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities will be closed Nov. 22-23.

Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule Thursday and a holiday weekday schedule Friday. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/ for more information. Fastran will not operate on Nov. 22-23.

Libraries: Mary Riley Styles Public Library is closed Nov. 22-23. Fairfax County libraries are also closed Nov. 22-23.

Metrorail: On Nov. 22, Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. There is no track work scheduled for Nov. 22-23. For more information, visit www.wmata.com.

Metrobus: On Nov. 22, Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule www.wmata.com.

Fairfax County Recreation Centers: All recreation centers are open at the regular time to 6 p.m. except George Washington RECenter, which is closed.

Recycling: I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) will be closed Nov. 22.

Trash Pickup: City of Falls Church trash collection happens on Wednesdays. Fairfax County trash, recycling, yard waste and special collection services happen on holidays except Christmas Day. The Customer Service Center is closed Nov. 22-23. Contact private service providers for holiday hours.
