An off-duty NYPD officer shot a man in a wheelchair in Brooklyn on Sunday morning after the man shot at him following an argument, the city police department said.

Officials said it happened shortly before 2:45 a.m. on East 43rd St. in between Linden Boulevard and Church Ave. in East Flatbush.

According to police, the 30-year-old man shot at the officer but missed. Authorities said the officer then shot back, hitting the man once in the hip.

The 30-year-old was transported to Brookdale Hospital, was expected to survive, and was in police custody.

The officer, whose name has not been released at this time, was not hurt but was brought to Methodist Hospital for evaluation. No other injuries were reported.
