DURHAM, N.C.- Duke University redshirt freshman Brooke Heinsohn is one of 26 players that have been called into training with the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team that will take place May 18-26 at the U.S. Soccer National Team Training Center in Carson, Calif.
The U-20 squad will take on Japan's U-20 National Team on Monday, May 22 at 8 p.m. (ET) and on Wednesday, May 24 at 8 p.m. (ET). The matches will be played at the Glenn “Mooch” Myernick Field in Carson, Calif.
Heinsohn is one of three players invited to camp who were members of the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea (Savannah DeMelo and Emily Fox).
Last March, the U-20 WNT played three international matches in La Manga, Spain, defeating Norway 8-2, falling to Germany 2-1 and defeating France 2-0. Sixteen players from that trip will come into this camp, including scorers of 10 of the 11 goals in that tournament.
A native of Norfolk, Mass., Heinsohn enrolled at Duke for the spring semester, after missing the fall campaign as she competed with the U-20 National Team in the U-20 World Cup played in Papua New Guinea. The 6-1 goalkeeper was the top net minder in the class coming out of high school. She was the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year for 2015-16 and 2015 NSCAA All-America, while collecting 49 shutouts in 58 high school appearances for The Rivers School.
