Big Motoring World sees profits rise 34% to £10.8m

Big Motoring World has reported pre-tax profits up 34% to £10.8m on turnover up 43% to £294m in 2019.

The group said sales volume exceeded 20,000 units during the period.

It opened up a second London supermarket in late 2019 near Enfield in North London, joining its two supermarkets in Kent and one in Stratford, east London.

Cars are prepped in a 12-acre preparation and distribution centre near in Peterborough.

Peter Waddell, CEO Big Motoring World said: “This is a great result for 2019 and we have only just started. Our London Car supermarkets are new additions to the business and will gain traction in 2020.”

During lockdown Big Motoring World moved into online sales with free home delivery while also offering Click and Collect when permitted.

In April and May the business also prepared it’s car supermarkets to be ready post lock down, fitting sneeze screens, ordering PPE and signage for social distancing.

“Covid restrictions have made a tough time for all companies including ours. I need to sing praises for my management team that has been outstanding and our staff for their patience and dedication.

“We are ready to go. Despite the lockdown effects, our ambitions have not changed, we have massive ground to make up but we are pressing forward to make 2020 another year of expansion,” he said.
