There are cooks at St. Elmo Steak House who are able to just look at a steak and tell you if it’s done. At a Broad Ripple restaurant, you and your friends can cook a Japanese meal on burners at your table. And if you like seafood, I know a hidden gem on the north side of Indianapolis where people line up on Friday nights for gumbo and fried soft-shell crab.

Those discoveries are a typical week in my food writer life, and you get to shadow me by watching the new IndyStar food show “Indylicious with Liz Biro.” I'll be spotlighting diverse voices behind the scenes and innovators pushing the area’s food scene forward.

Premiering April 24, “Indylicious with Liz Biro” gets the inside dish on all things delicious in Indianapolis and Central Indiana as IndyStar photographer Jenna Watson and I hunt down all the eats and drinks.

From the best restaurants and chefs to hidden gems and surprises, the sexiest cocktails and nosh, farmers markets, food artisans and, maybe, an occasional recipe, it’s a visual smorgasbord serving the ultimate Indiana eats.
