The closest Largs Film Society may get to a sing-a-long will take place at their next screening, which is Hear My Song, the 1991 film about the mysterious Irish tenor Josef Locke.

Mickey O’Neill, the owner of a British nightclub attempts to do the impossible by coaxing a legendary Irish tenor out of retirement for a once-in-a-lifetime show in this engagingly quirky comedy. With his already questionable reputation ruined when he booked an impostor claiming to be Josef Locke, now only providing a show by the real thing can make up for it. Trouble is, Locke fled England several decades before to avoid charges of tax evasion, and would face immediate arrest upon his return.

Naturally, the comedy emerges from O'Neill's desperate attempts to convince Locke to participate in the scheme.

The Society screens films every third Friday from September to May in the Valhalladrome at Vikingar; doors open at 7pm with a short introduction to the film before the screening at 7.30pm. Entry is to members and their guests. Membership is closed for this season, for membership enquiries please contact membershipsecretary@largsfilmsociety.co.uk.
