Brandt Berghuis and
Erin Teschuk of North Dakota State University were named the Summit League Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances Feb. 13-14 at the Iowa State Classic.
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brandt Berghuis, North Dakota StateJr. // Rosemount, Minn.Berghuis was named the men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career after his performance at the Iowa State Classic. The junior thrower had a toss of 62-11.50 (19.19m) in the weight throw – a mark that is more than two feet better than second place in The Summit League this season. It was the third-best weight throw mark of Berghuis' career.
The only athletes to finish ahead of Berghuis at the meet were all ranked in the top 21 nationally.
WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Erin Teschuk, North Dakota StateJr. // Winnipeg, ManitobaTeschuk collected her third Athlete of the Week award this season after her performance at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 14. Fresh off being named Summit League Athlete of the Month for January, she ran a school and meet record in the 3,000m, clocking in at 9:02.40 to obliterate a 30-year-old school record of 9:30.34. It was the first 3,000m race of her career.
Teschuk's time is currently ranked fourth nationally and was ranked No. 1 in the nation when she crossed the finish line. She is also ranked fourth in the nation in the mile.
