A 1994 Subaru Legacy, driven by Deeds, was travelling behind Jacobsen's vehicle, and struck it in the rear when the other vehicle began to slow down. Jacobsen was uninjured. The two kids who were injured were passengers in Deeds' vehicle.
WSP, in the press release, attribute "following too close" as the cause of the crash. Deeds was cited for following too closely and driving without insurance. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
