Anchorage School District has announced that all Chugiak and Eagle River schools will be closed Friday, March 23.

Catherine Esary, a public affairs spokesperson for ASD,

on the Glenn Highway prompted the decision.

All Anchorage-area schools will remain open and follow a normal schedule. Transportation will not be provided for students who attend a program in Anchorage but live in Chugiak and Eagle River.

Esary says absences will be excused but parents can chose to transport their children into Anchorage if desired. ASD provided a list of the programs in question:

• ACE/ACT (Trust Authority)

• Baxter Elementary SBBS Program

• King Career Center

• Northwood ABC/Creating Successful Futures Program

• Rogers Park Highly Gifted Program

• Russian Jack Elementary Hard of Hearing Program

• Whaley School

• Williwaw Elementary Hard of Hearing Program

Esary says Alaska Middle College School will maintain a normal schedule Friday, and that normal transportation will be provided.
