CHERRY HILL TWP. -- The owners of the Cherry Hill Mall are undertaking a major construction project to make room for a big, new tenant -- but the tenant's name is being kept secret.
"We can say it's certainly for an exciting, new tenant, but unfortunately we can't release any other details at this time, including the name of the tenant," a mall spokeswoman told NJ.com Tuesday.
The Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, or PREIT, submitted documents to the Cherry Hill Planning Board proposing construction changes to create an approximately 26,000-square-foot retail space.
The application states that most of that space will be made up of existing space that will be or has been vacated, and a roughly 5,000-square-foot addition on the building.
The Courier-Post reported that the Planning Board approved the addition at a meeting Monday.
Nancy Kilpatrick, a development director at PREIT, told the Planning Board that an international fashion retailer for men, women and children will be going into the wing of the mall that houses Macy's, according to the newspaper.
The Courier-Post reported Kilpatrick said it was at the tenant's request that PREIT was keeping the name of the store a secret.
