Two men arrested after police standoff in Brisbane
A siege in the inner-west Brisbane suburb of Auchenflower is over and two men are in custody following the incident that shut down parts of Brisbane’s inner city.
The major arterial road Coronation Drive has also re-opened to traffic, police confirmed.
It comes after officers investigating a series of property offences across the city’s southside went to an apartment on Chasely St at Auchenflower on Monday at around 11am where they confronted two men.
Police claimed one of the men fired a shot at officers, sparking an emergency situation.
“The two men then barricaded themselves in the unit,” Inspector Tony Ridge said.
It’s not known what type of guns the pair possess.
Inspector Ridge said earlier reports that the situation was an “active shooter” scenario were inaccurate, as only one shot was fired and the event was contained to the one location.

The situation led to Coronation Drive being blocked in both directions.
Police boats also stopped water traffic, including ferries and jet skis, on the nearby Brisbane River.
All bus and ferry services in the area were suspended while the emergency declaration was in effect.
The lockdown prevented some people from leaving or travelling to the nearby Wesley Hospital, however ambulances were still able to get through.
The hospital did not need to be evacuated, but police did move some people out of rooms on the side of the hospital closest to where the incident was taking place.
