Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, supermodels mourn hairstylist Oribe Canales

Oribe Canales attends the Designer of the Year Dinner hosted by Chrome Hearts for Design Miami at The Moore Building on December 4, 2010 in Miami, Florida.

Famous names across fashion, beauty and Hollywood are mourning the death of OG celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales.

Canales – who was referred to mostly by his first name – who grew to fame styling supermodels in the '80s and '90s and founded the eponymous hair line Oribe in 2008, died at age 62, People and WWD confirmed. USA TODAY has contacted his company for comment.

Jennifer Lopez, one of the names most associated with him, expressed her condolences in a lengthy message on Instagram dedicated to the "Latino legend."

"When I was 16 I was fascinated with Vogue magazine I would ride on the train and look at all the images of the supermodels and I was obsessed with the hair!" she wrote in her caption. "When I saw an image I loved I would check who did it and it was always someone named Oribe ... Cut to years later I was making my first album. I started working with Benny Medina and he said to me, we have to do an album cover shoot, who do you want for hair and makeup ... The next 10 years I would spend with Oribe by my side in every waking and working moment."

Miley Cyrus also mourned Oribe's passing.

"What they say is true ..... my heart is in a thousand tiny little pieces today," the singer wrote in a NSFW post. "Can’t catch my breath ..... oh how I will miss my sweet friend @ORIBEcanales Knowing I can’t call you right now to laugh, to talk hair, to talk life, to talk (expletive), makes me shake in disbelief."

Lopez and Cyrus were joined by many of the biggest names in modeling.

Christy Turlington, who turned to Oribe to do her hair for her 2003 wedding to actor/director Ed Burns, called "the most handsome, the funniest, the one and only."

At one time or another, Oribe worked with every model who appeared in George Michael's "Freedom '90" video, and they all posted tributes.

"Oribe — you will be missed!" Cindy Crawford wrote on Instagram. "Your incredible talent, your charm and good looks and just enough bad boy to keep us all laughing."

Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell both shared pictures of their younger selves with Canales tending to their hair.

"Tell me this is not true," Campbell wrote. "My Chosen family Orbie, broken beyond words. Beautiful SOUL there will never be another. I love you forever."

Tatjana Patitz, who also appeared in the iconic music video, posted a photo of Oribe, captioned, "What a force and genius you were in every way!"

Though Oribe was perhaps best known for his collaborations with the biggest names of the '90s, his work also won fans among the supermodel sets of the early 2000s and this decade.

"Rest In Peace brilliant and lovely Oribe," shared Karen Elson. "We will miss you dearly but your light will never be dimmed."

Dutch model Doutzen Kroes shared an on-set photo of him via Instagram, writing, "So sad to hear you are no longer with us. Miss you."

"Rest in Power, Oribe Canales," tweeted Emily Ratajkowski. "I am so grateful to have been able to work with you and know you. The king of hair, the king of Miami, the best smile."
