NOWSHRA/CHARSADDA: A man arrested for assaulting a minor girl confessed to his crime in a local court in Nowshera on Tuesday.

Police produced the arrested man, Mohammad Hamad, in the court of civil judge cum judicial magistrate, Bakhat Zada Khan, to record his confessional statement under Section 164 of PPC.

The accused, hailing from Lahore and presently living near Pabbi railway station, was arrested on January 17 by the local people after assault on the minor girl. He was later handed over to police. Police did not allow journalists to speak to the accused on the court premises. The judge sent him to jail.

Police sources said that medical report confirmed assault on the minor girl. Police had registered FIR under Sections 376 and 53 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Act, 2010 against the arrested man.

SP Sanaullah Khan told a press conference at his office that initial report of doctors proved that the girl had been subjected to sexual assault.

He said that the alleged rapist confessed to his crime in the court and recorded his statement under Section 164 of PPC.

In Charsadda, a student of a private college, who had killed his principal on Monday, was produced in the court in Shabqadar where he confessed to his crime.

Faheem Shah, a first year student of Islamia College in Matta, was produced in the court of judicial magistrate Attaullah Jan. He stated that the principal was angry with him and used to reprimand him for not attending the college for three days. He said that frequent taunts of the principal disturbed him and he took the extreme step to shoot and kill him.

The court after hearing of the case handed him over to police on a three-day physical remand.

SHO Arif Khan told journalists that the accused had confessed to killing the principal, Hafiz Sareer Ahmad, for scolding him over skipping classes for three days. He said that investigation in the case continued. He said that details of the investigation would be shared with the media.

Hidayat Khan, owner of Islamia College, told a press conference that Hafiz Sareer was a thorough professional teacher and religious minded person. He was an office-bearer of the local Tahaffuz Khatm-i-Nabuwat Organisation and used to participate in religious gatherings.

Meanwhile, the slain principal was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Shabqadar. His father told reporters after the funeral that terrorism charges should be included in the FIR and the case should be heard in a military court.
