Man Robs 9 West Oak Lane Bus Stops At Gun Point: Cops

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Philadelphia police are hunting for a man suspected for robbing several bus stops in West Oak Lane at gunpoint.

A total of nine armed robberies have been reported since December 6, police said.

The incidents have occurred in the following locations: 

- Dec. 6 at 8:12 a.m.: Lowber and Upsal streets
- Dec. 8: Thouron Avenue and Phil Ellena Street
- Dec. 9 at 6:51 a.m.: Cedarbrook and Upsal streets
- Dec. 17 at 11:30 a.m.: Thouron Avenue and Phil Ellena Street
- Dec. 18 at 8 a.m.: 1300 E. Sedgwick Street
- Dec. 18: Vernon Road and Baldwin Street
- Dec. 20: 7200 Woolston Avenue
- Dec. 26 at 7:42 a.m.: Cedarbrook and Upsal streets
- Dec. 28 at 8:35 a.m.: 1200 Easton Road

It appears that the suspect is targeting women who are alone at the bus stops early in the morning, according to police.

Usually the victims are robbed of their cell phones.

Police are encouraging residents, especially women, to be extra cautious and to always be aware of their surroundings. They add the following recommendations:

- Walk in groups of at least two using well-traveled/will-lit routes
- Avoid alleys and isolated places
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings
- Avoid wearing or carrying items that maybe distracting (i.e. ear buds, dark glasses, portable devices, etc.)
- Refrain from visibly displaying cell phone or ear buds
- Report suspicious persons and activity immediately by dialing 911
